Overview - Policy Innovation
A practitioners guide to policy innovation
According to the Prime Minister, policy innovation is crucial to ensuring we achieve desired outcomes and meet future challenges.
So how do we innovate?
In the context of the Australian Public Service, policy innovation can be challenging. Often, more immediate pressures can take precedence over our desire to improve processes, think 'outside the box' and develop more forward-looking, creative policy advice.
Policy innovation isn't impossible though. Throughout the public service there are departments improving their processes, coming up with new ideas and developing better policy.
The Policy Innovation Conference will feature a series
of presentations from a selection of these departments as
well as presentations from some of the leading thinkers in
this space. In attending, delegates will be better placed to foster innovation
in their own departments, enhance their own innovation performance and
ultimately develop more innovative policy that
will allow us to address the significant challenges that lay ahead.
